VINTAGE PRESS

“This spritely pop quintet has landed on the scene with an aggressive promotional kit (gumballs included) and a bouncy debut album. It might be a case where the name says it all; in the case of the deli Llamas, the name says a lot (wit and a definite sense of frivolity included)... there is a remarkable breath that went into blowing this here bubble, lots by way of lavish instrumentation (piano, guitar, Hammond, bass and drums) and a sense to audaciously travel the back roads of seventies pop in four minute mini histories. The group has been cleverly assembled, and manage some impressive sounds without the aid of electronic knick knacks; this is music the way an entire decade defined it, well written, well played and well sung. That last part might be the deli Llamas’ ace in the hole, what with a lot of pop spending too much or too little time trying to achieve some sort of perfection instead of just letting the singing do the singing… Do yourself a big favour and give it a spin.”

     - RPM, Nov. 24/97

“...Tuneful, hooky pop... great hooks and sense of fun... fresh lyrical sophistication...”

      - Lenny Stoute, The Toronto Star

“This Toronto band plays pure, unadorned pop music that features memorable melodies, hooky choruses and -- best of all -- intelligent, funny wordplay. The deli Llamas know how to write punchy songs that make you smile... without insulting your intelligence.”

     - Network, Winter 1997

“This Toronto band has the most diverse style I have ever heard on an indie label…”

     - HMV’s Indie Nation, March 1998
